Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation recently published a special focus issue on backyard flocks. In particular, the lead papers describe collective data of backyard poultry diseases by Dr. Cadmus in 8 representative states in the United States, Dr. Brochu in Ontario, Canada, and Dr. Bolfa in St. Kitts from the Caribbean. Findings show disease agents do not respect boundaries, and may move bidirectionally between backyard flocks and commercial flocks.
Check out Toxicologic Pathology’s latest special issue focused on medical devices. Guest edited by Drs. Serge Rousselle and Jaime Paulin, the issue includes articles, such as “Neurologic Medical Device Overview for Pathologists” and “Pathology of Bioabsorbable Implants in Preclinical Studies.”

Vascular Medicine is currently soliciting manuscripts for a Focused Issue devoted to vascular disease manifestations and treatment in patients with cancer as well as vascular complications of cancer treatment. Original research, reviews, research letters, and clinical images will be considered.
Veterinary Pathology is issuing a call for papers for a special focus on the topic of “Regulated cell death – emerging mechanisms and current perspectives in biology and pathology” and encourages submission of primary research papers. Interested authors are invited to send a statement of interest/short summary (300 words) to the guest editors Dr. Sara Santagostino firstname.lastname@example.org and Dr. Enrico Radaelli email@example.com, who will contact authors via email regarding submission and next steps.
High-throughput, or next-generation sequencing (NGS), is rapidly expanding our ability to detect and genotype various pathogens, and is developing as a tool that will be useful in veterinary diagnostic laboratories.JVDI is inviting submissions to a special focus issue on applied next-generation sequencing. If interested, please submit an abstract of up to 250 words describing your proposed topic to our guest editor, Dr. Laura Goodman, firstname.lastname@example.org or to the Editor-in-chief, Dr. Grant Maxie, email@example.com by August 31, 2019.
