“The chapters are accessible and easy to read. They are also applicable and will better help guide students in how best to provide and support their work with theory and literature while presenting useful information on methodology and how to conduct and analyze qualitative research.”
“I believe this book would be a great resource to my doctoral students enrolled in my Introduction to Qualitative Research Design and Methodology course as well as those individuals working on their dissertation proposal development, data collection, data analysis and writing process.”
I highly recommend this to my students who are struggling with incorporating a theoretical framework into their dissertation. It provides clear and easy to follow information that supplements my own thoughts.
This is a very useful textbook for qualitative research.
I really like this book, especially the first eight chapters, and originally thought I would replace the text I currently use in my methods class, but I needed more about particular approaches than Ravitch and Carl provide for that particular course. However, as I work with dissertation students, the definitions and examples in the book, as well as the chapters devoted to proposal development are most useful for their level of need. I did not adopt it as a primary text, but use it individually for each of them and recommend its use as a worthy guide for their varied approaches. I particularly like the attention given to conceptual and theoretical frameworks, useful tables for quick reference and definitions, and validity processes and strategies .
