Qualitative Methods in Business Research is a wide-ranging and accessible book that provides a thorough overview into most common qualitative research methods in business and related fields, such as marketing, management, organization studies, and accounting.
This book offers a practical how-to guide to using qualitative methods, and covers all the major qualitative approaches in business research, including:
- Case study research
- Ethnography
- Narrative inquiry
- Discourse analysis
- Grounded theory
- Action research
Within each approach, the authors consider crucial issues such as framing the research, generating research questions, getting access, collecting empirical data, reporting the results, and evaluating the research. The book provides a comprehensive view into the whole research process in business research, including the evaluation and the writing processes of qualitative research. Original case studies drawn from around the world are included throughout to demonstrate the practical applications of the methods.
As well as providing a complete, student-friendly introduction to qualitative research methods, the book will also be a valuable and longstanding reference book for researchers and practitioners who want to update and widen their knowledge and skills in the area.
Excellent text for understanding qualitative approaches to research. Well written and well structured.
The text book is excellent, however for the above mentioned course it is quite advanced. We may see if we can use it in other course.
The book has a nice structure and clear flow of the content. There are some high quality chapters such as focus groups. However, in general, I would go for a more in-depth book for my post-graduate students, especially on topics such as case study and ethnography.
This book gives a good overview on methods in qualitative Research. Sometimes the distinction between method and methodology does not become clear (e.g. for Focus Groups). It is a very recommendable book for beginners.
This book is highly recommended because of the way in which it approaches and then addresses the topics within qualitative research. The chapters on the research methods are well-written and informative.
This resource elevates qualitaive methods to a level that l had not appreciated despite years of teaching research. A 'must have' resource for every researcher.
This book provides an accessible and sophisticated introduction to students and researchers looking to expand their skills in qualitative analysis and offers many ideas for approaching qualitative techniques.
