Principles and Practice of Assessment in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Second Edition

June 2011 | 144 pages | Learning Matters
This is a core text aimed at the mandatory CTLLS unit for Levels Three and Four which all trainees working towards ATLS need to successfully complete. Structured around the content of the unit, all chapters are linked to the QTLS professional standards. This Second Edition has been fully revised and updated in line with changes to the TAQA Assessor Awards and includes a new 'extension activity' for those taking the unit at Level Four. With helpful activities and case studies throughout, this is an accessible guide enabling trainees to understand how to use assessment effectively in their learning and teaching.

The book contains good ideas which can be translated to the Irish system. However, the different system does impact relevance to students.

Again a good staple publication from Gravells. I recommend other books on the subject are also consulted to give a range of viewpoints

This book is recommended for all who study for CCTLLS, and those who are studying to become an assessor.
The book has activities that enable you to think through the assessment process, and help with the understanding of the subject of assessment. Excellent for both those with lots of experience and the beginner, a good read, full of relevant and up to date information.

Another excellent and accessible book from Ann Gravells. The only reason for not adopting it for the TAQA course is that the information in this text is largely included in Ann's comprehensive book devised for that qualification.
