Practice Teaching in Healthcare
- Neil Gopee - Coventry University, UK
Practice Teaching and Learning in Healthcare is an essential textbook for anyone studying for the practice teacher qualification. Encouraging a critical understanding of the knowledge and competence required to fulfill the practice teacher role, the book examines and evaluates the concepts, theories, and frameworks underpinning the necessary skillset.
Structured largely around the Nursing and Midwifery Council's standards for practice teachers, the book provides comprehensive coverage of the knowledge and skills required to supervise and assess the learning of qualified healthcare practitioners such as those on post-qualifying specialist or advanced practice programs, and therefore includes:
- Managing inter-professional relationships
- Specialist and advanced practice and knowledge
- Assessment and accountability
- Leadership in facilitation of learning and assessment of clinical skills
- Clinical practice development and evidence-based practice, and
- Issues and further developments in learning beyond registration.
With think points, illustrations and case studies, this is an ideal textbook for healthcare professionals who are students on practice teaching courses, and all facilitators of learning beyond registration.
An excellent book providing sound guidance in an easy to read format
This text is highly informative and relevant to my role. However, it is likely to be of more use to those in senior positions or aspiring to these. I will utilise on the recommended reading list for mentors in the Trust, but will also be utilising for my teams personal development.
recommended for purchase
This is a great book for all Practice Teacher students and those who are already in the role. It is structured around the NMC Outcomes and uses clear practice examples, making this essential reading
I really like this text. Finding it very useful as a new practice teacher currently working towards PGCE and NMC Practice teacher status - with links to NMC Standards and lots of links to practice.
Fantastic book for all CPT.
Up to date book integrating practice to theory fantastic reference for anyone teaching in healthcare.
I feel that this particular book will be a valuable resource for additional training sessions. Content, concepts and resources within are transferable between specialities.
A very useful text for practice treachers supporting learning and performance of the role related to NMC requirements.
An interesting book. It is easy to read and understand. A very good resource for Practice Educators/Teachers.
