Another really useful book from Francis and Gould for anyone new to teaching in adult and further education. It is mapped directly to the assessment requirements for the new award in education and training, with a very clear structure and plenty of guidance and suggestions throughout. We have been using the series of textbooks produced by these authors for at least ten years now as they continually come out top in student preference evaluations.
'In the ever-changing climate within which teachers find themselves, Francis and Gould have continued to remain abreast of the times with relevant and up-to-date best practice. I highly recommend this book for those new to teaching and those who want a refresher.'
'Francis and Gould have produced a must read for anyone studying for an introductory teaching qualification. The book is practical in its approach, yet grounded in theory, and full of common sense guidance for practitioners teaching in a variety of further and higher education settings. An easy and engaging read, it offers a step-by-step guide through the planning, teaching and assessment journey.
This is a comprehensive text book that supports Award in Education. It has great ideas for resources, strategies and approaches that are not only good for Award students but those who progress to further teacher training courses.
Linked to learning outcome of the course. Provided foundation of topics for learners to relate teaching practice and theory
Excellent book which supports the learners in completing their assignments.
An easy and informative read, it offers a step-by-step guide through the planning, teaching and assessment journey, with a very clear structure and plenty of guidance and suggestions throughout.
A clear and accessible book that covers all major topics of the course.
It has a very clear layout and style. It has a very practical approach to teaching which should be very useful to those new to the profession.
This book is an easy read due to it being well laid out and having lots of good teaching points. It covers all the learning points required for the new level 3 Award in Teaching and Training and is a must read for anyone teaching in the FE and skills sector and Adult learning.
A difficult choice between this and Ann Gravels so we bought a selection of each and let students take the one that they considered best met their reading and study styles. Equally positive and complimentary feedback on both books, with AG book better answering the assessment tasks!
But a great read and useful reference.
Clearly written and well-structured text book, which is pitched appropriately for those considering a career in the POst-Compulsory Sector.
While an excellent book, the specifics do not relate to the award system in Ireland
Superb and easy to follow book, that clearly identifies the areas that learners need to understand in order to successfully complete the Award in Education and Training
Great book - full of tips and hints to help students with the Award. Easy to read and a great book to have by your side when discussing FE sector.
Activities were very useful. Clearly set out and readable. All aspects of teaching is explored which offers much support for new colleagues and good opportunities to deliver CPD demonstrating explicit links from theory to practice.
excellent book to support the L3 award clearly set out and clearly referenced to criteria. Easy read
Essential for teachers and students on ITE courses.
This book is an excellent complement to the Award course (and I have also recommended it for the Level 4 Certificate learners.) It is clear, well-organised and full of practical tips and strategies.
A great book though very similar to Francis's PTLLS book she co-wrote with Jim Gould. If you don't have the PTLLS book and you are doing the AET, then it's definitely worth buying.
We have linked this book to our website as a support book for the Award in Education & Training.
it is clearly and simply written and provides a structured approach to the course.
