The second edition is an impressively comprehensive book, with so many leading experts and writers in coaching . The book is a consistently organised, accessible and practical handbook for coaches. Particularly helpful in the Introduction is the Table showing how each theory or approach is linked to the genres and contexts in which that style of coaching is used. The new edition is updated and covers coaching even more extensively than the first edition.
When the first edition of the Complete Handbook of Coaching appeared, it became my first point of reference for everything to do with coaching. The second edition lives up to the standards of the first, bring existing chapters up to date and adding new chapters on health and wellness coaching and on coaching research. As the evidence base for coaching expands, it is good to have an updated edition of this wonderful book.

The editors have assembled an impressive list of contributors, comprising both academics and practising coaches...The variety of the contributions gave me the impression of a vibrant and creative discipline that is growing rapidly and also changing...The most helpful chapter for me was on‘the future of coaching as a profession’. In this chapter there was a good overview of the struggles of a new profession trying to establish itself.
This seems a good reference book that offers a wide range of views from different authors. If any one of them is of particular interest further publications from them can be bought. I think that this is a bit more accademic then I would need it to be for my course.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through this book, it has given me a good insight into coaching and the different types. Provided ways in which I could put aspects of coaching into my teaching practice.
First of all I like the description of almost all theoretical background theories in coaching, although some could be elaborated more deeply (e.g., person-centered approach). This was missing up to now.
Cox et al have produced an ideal handbook of coaching; drawing heavily on psychological and counselling theories to illustrate the evolution of coaching theory and practice.
This book is a valuable resource, especially for those who may be keen to get an overview of work/ideas in the area of coaching.

Informative and highly motivating contents which covers a wide range of coaching techniques and methods. including Transactional Analysis, NLP. this book covers all aspects of coaching and will benefit those who are focusing on the wider coaching practice.
This book covers many useful tips of how to get people to make their own decisions. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this text and thinking how some of the techniques can be included in pre-nurse training. I am asking the library to purchase a few copies and recommending this as supplemental reading.

This is an outstanding book. It consists of a wide variety of easy-to-read articles written that are grounded on excellent academic research. It is a key manual for my Coaching module and the first book I recommend to every student and colleague.
This is a good text for bringing together the range of approaches to coaching and the different types of coaching as well as key professional issues. Clearly presented and very accessible.
