The authors have extensive experience in palliative and end of life care and bring it to this inspiring book; they set out a clear process through the end of life care journey and use excellent case studies throughout. A subject rarely covered in books such as these is sudden unexpected death, to which the authors devote a chapter. The discussion is thought provoking and it is an area of care students are likely to be required to consider and manage. I recommend this book to students and mentors who would like to explore end of life care in more depth.

This is a clearly written book that provides an essential knowledge and understanding to the undergraduate nursing students. The clear learning objectives at the beginning of each chapter provides a clear outline. The reflective questions and action points throughout the book are very beneficial to stimulate thinking as the reader progress with their reading.

This is an excellent guide for preregistration nurses and newly qualified nurses. All the chapters guide the nurses through the effects of caring for people who are dying and their relatives. Especially helpful are the chapters about communication and managing own emotions.
All students are expected to have an understanding of end of live essential. It is imperative that they know this topic. This book will enable them to do so.
I thought this book was a great resource. Although used by level 3 learners it provide accurate information and was very easy to read.
