Instructions for Contributor License signing (subscription) authors

In order for Sage to publish your article in one of our hybrid or subscription journals, you must sign a Contributor License.

The below instructions will guide you through how to sign your Contributor License in Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment. 

After your article has been accepted for publication, following the peer review process, you will be contacted with instructions and a link to Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment.

You will receive an email from contributorlicenses@sagepub.com with a subject line of ‘Sign your license to publish 10.XXXX/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’ – see image below.

  • The email provides a link to sign your Contributor License in Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment.
  • The email link will not expire, but you should take action and sign as soon as possible. We cannot publish your article until the Contributor License is signed.
  • In the case of multiple authors on a manuscript, all authors will receive an email, and ANY author can follow the link and sign on behalf of their co-authors. The author that follows the link first will be the signing author.

Sign your license

Register process 1

STEP 1: Login or register – Select your name from the dropdown list of authors and create a password to register. If you are a returning user, enter your previously created password to log in.

STEP 2: Sign License – After logging in / registering, you will be prompted to sign the Contributor License.

Please read the terms of the Contributor License, including the Terms of Agreement.

On this page you will do the following:

  • You will tell us who owns the copyright of your contribution by selecting one of five options.
  • You will confirm you accept the license provisions and accept the Terms of the Agreement.
  • You will warrant that you are authorized to sign on behalf of any other contributing authors.
  • You can then select ‘Sign License’

 

‘Notes to the Author’ can be found at the bottom of the page with supporting information and contact email for questions (contributorlicenses@sagepub.com)

Some copyright ownership selections may require you to sign a PDF Contributor License via email, outside of Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment. If you select one of these options, the portal will send your PDF Contributor License to you, along with instructions on how to complete and return. Any Contributor Licenses signed via email should be sent to contributorlicenses@sagepub.com as PDFs to ensure we can publish your article.


Register process 3

STEP 3: Confirmation – Your Contributor License is signed, Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment will show you a confirmation of the action you have completed.

You will see who the signing author was and see confirmation of the publishing route for your article. As you signed a Contributor License, your article will be published subscription.

You will also be provided a link to the Author Dashboard, where you can view (if any) your current and previous actions related to license signing and Open Access transactions.


STEP 4: Confirmation email with signed Contributor License PDF – All authors listed on the article will receive an email confirmation and a copy of the signed PDF.

The email confirmation will be sent from contributorlicenses@sagepub.com with a subject line of ‘Contributor License signed for your paper 10.XXXX/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’ – see image below.
