A good text for undergraduate HRM programmes as the text assumes no prior HRM knowledge. Therefore, it provides a solid foundation on which to build.

The practical approach of this textbook is very helpful. This makes illustration of theoretical constructs easier and more understandable for students. The language is very nice English which is important for me as I teach non-native speakers, so easy understanding is key for us.

This is a highly informative text in every respect, exploring all the fundamental aspects of human resource management. It covers a diverse range of topics, including organisational structures, external influences, legal issues and current trends and issues in human resource management.

The text is highly recommended for any institution offering courses with modules in this area. It has enough detail for undergraduate level, however, the easy to read approach of the text, makes it equally suitable for level 3 courses. For our institution, this textbook will be very useful for BTEC and A Level Business modules in human resource management. The textbook is clear and concise, making it easy to use, with a clear layout, which is particularly useful for level 3 learners.

A highly recommended text, with all the details for any course/module with a human resource management aspect.

I find this to be a good overview text which talks about some of the key theories in the reward management. Most HRM textbooks only have one chapter on reward management but this one has three - helpfully dividing the subject in the same way that I do on the module.
It is nice to give students a break from our core textbook for a couple of weeks and suggest a different reading.
I also supplement these chapters with journal papers.
I use the short case study (robbing peter to pay paul) in the compensation chapter as an in class exercise. I usually use longer case studies but in this session there is already a lot of readings to discuss so a short one is helpful which can be done in class rather than reading ahead.

The book is designed in a way which makes it very helpful and valuable for academic and training purposes. It could be used for civilian students as well as for military. The tests and the structure of the content make the book easy to understand. There are many ideas which can be easily adapted for the needs of various organizations.

A core benefit of this book is a practical approach to HRM issues. This makes the book a valuable HRM learning material. Real-life case studies and Skill Builder sections provide support to the readers in their skills development, such as communication skills, than can be implemented in real business situations. The comprehensive and structural approach to the presentation of the key CSR issues is supplemented by contemporary issues that link HRM with Sustainability and Social Responsibility issues.
