It was a best book I could find for an introduction to the concepts of information systems in a HR setting. Most of my students are new to the concepts of host side processing.
This book has been a treasure in support of my HRIS and Web-Based HR graduate courses at NYU. I have used this text since edition 1 and plan on incorporating this latest edition into my next class. The authors do a great job in explaining many of the key HRIS topics and in providing relevant case studies and vignettes that give my students a chance to incorporate the readings into real-life situations. By upgrading every year or so, they keep the text current and relevant.
This text provides the most comprehensive overview of Human Resource Information Systems of any text on the market. I used this book as a student prior to starting an HRIS internship, then used it when I took the class. Now that I am teaching this course, I could not imagine relying on another resource as my primary text for this course.
