Are the Tribals really benefitting from Forest acts and policies?

Over the century, Forest acts and policies have claimed to conserve and provide the equitable and justifiable distribution of forest resources among the human populace. Since pre and post‐independence periods the development of National forest policies and acts have undergone many changes from revenue generation to livelihood generation and finally to sustainability. Still, these leaps could not provide social equity and justice to the deserving communities.


Are we heading on the path of Inclusive Development?

After experiencing dramatic structural changes and transition recessions following independence, Central Asian economies have been able to recover and experience high rates of growth and declining poverty rates over the last 15 years. The challenge for Central Asian countries over the next 30–40 years is to sustain a rapid growth path, pursue their transformation and integration into the global economy, and ensure a gradual convergence towards the more developed countries.

Dr. Eunice M. Areba is a clinical assistant professor at the School of Nursing, University of Minnesota (UMN). She completed a PhD in nursing science and a postdoctoral fellowship in child and adolescent primary care at the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Health in the Department of Pediatrics, Medical School UMN.
