The SAGE production process

• Communication: We are conscious of, and understand, how keen authors are to see their work published. SAGE Production Editors maintain regular communication with journal editors and authors throughout the production process.

• Proofs: We will email a PDF of the proofs to the corresponding author. Please return corrected proofs as soon as possible, or by the deadline requested, so as not to delay the publication process. 

Sage has an agreement with Manipal Academy of Higher Education to publish articles open access. The agreement for participating organizations will run from April 01, 2024, through to March 31, 2029. The details of the agreement are as follows: 

To qualify for the agreement, the corresponding author must be affiliated with Manipal Academy of Higher Education and have an article accepted for publication between April 01, 2024, and March 31, 2029. 

Sage has an agreement with Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional to publish articles open access The agreement for participating organizations will run from January 1, 2024, through to December 31, 2025. The details of the agreement are as follows: 

To qualify for the agreement, the corresponding author must be affiliated with Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional and have an article accepted for publication between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025. 

Sage has an agreement with CzechELib to publish articles open access. The agreement for participating organizations will run from January 01, 2022, through to December 31, 2025. The details of the agreement are as follows:

Sage has an agreement with Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) to publish articles open access. The agreement for participating organizations will run from January 01, 2023, through to December 31, 2025. The details of the agreement are as follows:

Sage has an agreement with MALMAD to publish articles open access. The agreement for participating organizations will run from January 01, 2025, through to December 31, 2027. The details of the agreement are as follows:

Some journals may allow short commentaries on published articles and author responses (or rebuttals). These are generally limited to one direct commentary on an article published in the journal, an author response to the commentary, and a rejoinder by the commentator, all of which are subject to peer review unless otherwise stated in the journal’s manuscript submission guidelines. Such contributions may have a restricted word count. Please view the relevant journal’s submission guidelines for more information.

Authors can make their article open access either via the gold OA publishing or green OA archiving as described below.

A number of funders require research articles which have resulted from their funding to be made open access, including RCUK, NIH and Wellcome Trust. SAGE helps authors comply with these mandates either via the gold open access publication route or green open access archiving.
