Shailja Sharma, MBA, MTM, PhD, is a faculty with the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management and Chairperson for the BBA (T&T) programme at the Noida campus of the institute. She has a total of 13 years of experience with 11 years of experience in teaching and training in tourism and 2 years of corporate experience. She has trained over 1,500 tour guides and tour leaders. She is a qualified trainer of World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) from London. She has designed and delivered tour leadership programmes for travel companies. She has also delivered various tour guiding and leadership programmes for various state governments too. Besides these, she has designed and delivered various training programmes for a range of stakeholders in tourism which includes tourist information officers, senior government officials posted in state tourism departments, cab drivers, etc.
She has a PhD in tour guiding and has published research in reputed journals. She has also authored a book. She has been also associated on research projects with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India (MOT-GOI), and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). She has travelled extensively across five continents around the world to earn an insight into tour management and leadership.
