Mehmet R. Genç, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey, and his PhD in clinical bacteriology from Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. He completed his clinical training in obstetrics and gynecology as well as maternal–fetal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York, New York, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. He was a faculty at Harvard Medical School, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Rutgers University College of Medicine. He is currently a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, Florida. His primary focus is the impact of intrauterine infection and inflammation (Triple I) on pregnancy outcomes. As part of his research, he evaluates the currently available techniques for the diagnosis of Triple I to optimize their performance and utility for the clinical management of pregnant women and their children.
