Carolyn Cunningham Gonzaga University

Carolyn M. Cunningham, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Communication and Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University. She teaches courses in social media, content creation and strategy, digital storytelling, women and leadership, and communication teaching and pedagogy. Her research explores the intersections of gender and technology, with a particular focus on girls. She is the editor of Social Networking and Impression Management: Self-Presentation in the Digital Age and co-editor of Gender, Communication, and the Leadership Gap. Her book Games Girls Play: Contexts of Girls and Video Games looks at the unique relationship girls have to video games. Her published research has also appeared in journals including the Journal of Children and Media, New Media and Society, and Communication Education. She is on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media (https://nwaresponsiblemedia.org/).
