Betty Sargeant RMIT University, Australia, Charles Sturt University, Australia

Betty Sargeant is trained in both visual art and creative writing. Betty writes and illustrates picture books and produces book apps. Her digital picture book Wayne Boris Carlo was published 2011 and was translated into Swedish in 2012. And RED was published in 2012. She wrote, illustrated and designed both works. Betty is currently being funded by RMIT University, Australia, to produce a multimedia interactive book app; this is based on her latest picture book, How Far is UP? Betty has exhibited her illustrations at galleries throughout Australia and within Europe. She has also been commissioned to write and design numerous children's theatre productions. She is a member of the Australian Society of Authors, Illustrators Australia and Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). She is also an invited member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, in recognition of her academic excellence. Betty is currently completing her PhD at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. She lectures in the Masters stream at RMIT in the area of global media and communications.
